Illustrated by Sachiko Yoshikawa
When Mrs.Ruler asks five of her Kindergarteners to miss recess, She's got a plan. She's about to teach a new 'Golden' Rule: KINDNESS IS COOL! Soon the whole class starts making good decisions that their bulletin board barely fits in their classroom. By cleaning the table after dinner to helping the elderly, one kindergarten class is proving that kids really can make a difference.
This is actually a great Children's book with a really good message to it. The appropriate grade for this book is for 1st graders.
A keyword from this book that would grab the students attention would be 'Cooler' and the way they use it. Of course this word means that more people will like you, but the way she used made the students actually want to do something about it.
An activity I would do is make the students make a list of what they could do throughout the day to help others.
